Sample Bay Barcode Scanner Removal and Replacement

Laser Warning—This product utilizes internal barcode scanners with visible red laser light. Long term viewing of the laser light could result in eye damage. Never stare into the barcode scanner laser light. This is a Class 2 laser product in accordance to EN 60825-1: 2007 and complies with 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 except for deviations pursuant to Laser Notice N. 50, dated June 2007.

Parts and Materials Required

• Proper PPE

• Ball end hex driver, 3 mm
• SAMPLE/REAGENT BAY, BAR CODE SCANNER

Time Required

• 30 minutes

Removal Procedure

1. Put on proper PPE.

2. Open Service Software.
3. Navigate to 2. Front and Loading Units tab.
4. On the Sample Scan tab, click the Read button located under Scan Configuration.
5. Write down the complete configuration of the current Sample Bay barcode scanner. Note the type of code, range, whether the checksums are verified and displayed, and additional CODABAR settings (if required).

   

6. Using a 3 mm hex driver, remove the six socket head cap screws that secure the reader to the bracket and the bracket to the Sample Bay module.

   

7. Disconnect the reader from the back of the Sample Bay module and carefully remove the reader from the system.

   

Replacement Procedure

1. Reverse the removal procedure to install the new Reagent Bay barcode reader.
2. Follow the Sample Bay Barcode Reader Installation and Configuration to configure the new Sample Bay Barcode reader.

Verification

1. Follow the Sample Bay Barcode Reader Verification Procedure to verify the replacement.
