Molded TCR Carousel Barcode Scanner Removal and Replacement

Parts and Materials Required

• Proper PPE

• 1.5 mm ball driver or Allen key
• 3 mm ball driver or Allen key
• 4 mm Ball driver or Allen key
• Thin flat head screwdriver
• Phillips screwdriver
• Molded TCRTarget capture reagent—An assay-specific reagent added as part of specimen pipetting. Carousel Scanner

Time Required

• 30 minutes

Removal Procedure

1. Put on proper PPE.
2. Power down the Panther System.
3. Ensure that the Sample Pipettor is out of the way, so that it will not be damaged.
4. Using a 4 mm ball driver or Allen key, unscrew the two mounting bolts at the front of the module.

   

5. Using a 4 mm ball driver or Allen key, unscrew the mounting bolt near the scanner housing.

   

6. Using a 3 mm ball driver or Allen key, unscrew the mounting bolt near the Endozime cup.

   

7. Locate the TCR Carousel PCB in the scanner housing and unplug the CAN cable that goes from the TCR Carousel to the COP.

   

8. Pull the TCR Carousel out of the system.
9. Place the TCR Carousel upside down on a bench top.
10. Using a thin flat head screwdriver, remove the scanner cable connection to the TCR Module PCB.

    

11. Remove the excess scanner cabling from its holder. Use your finger to push the tabs allowing the cable to be removed.

    

12. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the scanner mounting bracket.

    

13. Using a Phillips head screwdriver and a 1.5 mm ball driver or Allen key, remove the scanner from the bracket.

    

Replacement Procedure

1. Attach the new scanner to the mounting bracket.
2. Attach the mounting bracket to the TCR module. Ensure that the edges are square with the edges of the scanner housing.

   

3. Fold the excess cabling and insert into the holder.
4. Attach the scanner connection to the TCR Module PCB.
5. Plug in the CAN cable.
6. Re-install the TCR Module.

Alignment/Calibration

1. Teach the Sample Pipettor to the TCR Carousel.

Verification

1. Load a TCR bottle with at least 20 mL of saline in slot 1 of the TCR Carousel.
2. Start up Service Software.
3. Click the Pipettor tab.
4. Initialize the Pipettors, TCR Carousel, Tip Drawers, and the Reagent Module.
5. Click the Move tab.
6. In the Right Arm box, select a tip tray position containing a tip and double-click the position to move the pipettor to that location.
7. Click Pick in the Tip section under Right Arm.
8. In the Right Arm box, select TCR Carousel and double-click position 1x1 to move the pipettor to this position.
9. Click Bar in the LLD section under Right Arm.
10. Ensure the tip goes into the bottle without hitting the sides of the bottle opening.
11. Go to the Front and Loading Units tab.
12. Click TCR Scanning.
13. Scan position 1 and ensure you have a successful read.
