Magnetic Wash Station Level Sense PCB Removal and Replacement

Parts and Materials Required

  • Hex wrench, 2 mm
  • Hex wrench, 3 mm
  • Nut driver, 7 mm
  • MAGWASH, LEVEL SENSE PCB

Time Required

  • 1–2 hours

Removal Procedure

  1. Put on proper PPE.
  1. Remove the Magnetic Wash module.
Wear clean nitrile gloves while performing the following procedures.
  2. ClosedPlace the Magnetic Wash module on a properly protected work surface.
  3. ClosedUsing a 3 mm hex wrench, remove the seven 4 mm screws that secure the clear module cover and lift the cover off the module.
  4. ClosedUsing a 7 mm nut driver, remove the front four aspirators. The aspirator closest to the motor (aspirator #1) may require that the aspirator drive block be lowered into the module a few inches.
  5. ClosedThe final aspirator and aspirator drive block can be lowered into the module by turning the lead screw by hand to drive the carriage lower into the module. The aspirator can then be safely unscrewed and lifted past the motor. It may still be necessary to gently flex the aspirator a bit to get it past the motor.
  6. ClosedUsing a 2 mm hex wrench, remove the two 3 mm screws that retain the level sense ribbon cable.
  7. ClosedFlip the level sense PCB over to access the Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) connector for the ribbon cable. Pull down on the release tabs of the ZIF connector and remove the ribbon cable.

Replacement Procedure

  1. Reverse the removal procedure.
  2. Clean the top of the carriage block and both sides of the level sense PCB with alcohol to ensure good contact. Poor electrical contact will cause incorrect level sense and tip-strip reporting errors.
  3. ClosedInstall the aspirators and screw into the carriage block. Aspirator 1 may require that the carriage block be lowered as described in the previous section. Using a 7 mm nut driver, firmly tighten the aspirators.
  4. Install the Magnetic Wash module.

Alignment/Calibration

  1. Align the Distributor to the Magnetic Wash modules.

Verification

  1. Check for oil and wash fluid leaks at all connections.
  2. Perform the Magnetic Wash Dispense and Process Control Verification procedure.
  3. Perform a System Level Operational Qualification.
  4. PrimeClosedOperation of pumping fluid through tubing to ensure proper and consistent fluid delivery (remove air from the tubing, etc.). the system(see the Panther System Operator's Manual).
