Unloading Undeactivated MTUs from Output Queue

Purpose

To explain the method for removing and deactivating MTUs from the Output Queue in the event of a failure.

Parts and Materials Required

Procedure

  1. Put on proper PPE.
  2. Power down the Panther System.
  3. Dispose of MTUClosedMulti-tube unit—Container used to process tests in the instrument. An MTU contains five separate reaction tubes. The MTU is moved through the instrument by the linear distributor and includes five tiplets for pipettiing to be used in the mag wash station. waste bag and replace with a new waste bag.
  4. ClosedRemove the plastic cover from the top of the Output Queue rails.

  5. ClosedUsing a bleach bottle dispense bleach into each tube of an MTU that is not deactivated.

  6. Wait 15 minutes for deactivation of MTU.
  7. Change gloves.
  8. Remove each MTU from the output queue and gently place into the waste drawer, making sure not to spill contents of the MTU.
  9. Changes gloves. A new set of gloves need to be worn for each MTU being removed from the output queue.
  10. Dispose of waste bag in a bio-hazard waste container.
