Installing the Hand-Held Barcode Scanner

In order to use the hand-held barcode scanner (Cino FuzzyScan) with the Panther System software, the scanner needs to be programmed for the host interface selection, the minimum of length for code 128/EAN-128, and the preamble character generation.

Note—Print out the Panther Hand-Held Scanner Barcodes first in order to scan barcode images.

Procedure

A. Reset the Scanner to Default Factory Settings

Note—Setting the scanner to the default factory settings is necessary if its existing settings are not known.

To reset the scanner, scan the following barcodes:

  1. Scan PROGRAM to enter the programming mode.
  2. Scan the barcode labeled Factory Default.
  3. Scan END to exit the programming mode.

B. Program the Host Interface Selection

The Host Interface Selection must be set to USB HID Interface.

To program the Host Interface Selection, scan the following barcodes:

  1. Scan PROGRAM to enter the programming mode.
  2. Scan the barcode labeled USB HID Interface.
  3. Scan END to exit the programming mode.

C. Program the Minimum Length for Code 128/EAN-128

The minimum length for Code 128/EAN-128 must be 1.

To program the minimum length for Code 128/EAN128, scan the following barcodes:

  1. Scan PROGRAM to enter the programming mode.
  2. Scan the barcode labeled Code 128/EAN-128 Setting.
  3. Scan option code 0.
  4. Scan option code 1.
  5. Scan Fin.

D. Program the Minimum Length for Code 25

The minimum length for Code 25 must be 1.

to program the minimum length, scan the following barcodes:

  1. Scan PROGRAM to enter the programming mode.
  2. Scan the barcode labeled Code 25 Family & German Post Code Setting.
  3. Scan option code 0.
  4. Scan option code 1.
  5. Scan FIN.

E. Program the Preamble Characters

The Panther System software expects the following eight preamble characters in the following order:

CR (0x0D), CR (0x0D), HT (0x09), BS (0x08), CR (0x0D), CR (0x0D), HT (0x09), and BS (0x08)

To program the preamble characters, scan the following barcodes:

  1. Scan PROGRAM to enter the programming mode.
  2. Scan the barcode labeled Preamble (described in the section Keyboard Interface Control on page 43 of the FuzzyScan Programming Manual).
  3. Scan the option codes in the following order:

    0, D, 0, D, 0, 9, 0, 8, 0, D, 0, D, 0, 9, 0, 8

  4. Scan the barcode labeled FIN
  5. Scan the barcode labeled END to exit the programming mode.
