Cleaning Modules

Scope

Perform every time a module is returned from the field.

Parts and Materials Required

  • Proper PPE
  • Bench pad
  • DI water
  • Lint free towel
  • 70% ethanol
  • 2.5%–3.5% sodium hypochlorite bleach solution

Time Required

  • 10 minutes

Cleaning Procedure

Note—Remember to always change gloves frequently and when moving from Dirty to Clean.
  1. Find a clean working surface area.
    Wear clean nitrile gloves while performing the following procedures.
  2. Wipe work area with 2.5%–3.5% sodium hypochlorite bleach solution.
  3. Wipe work area with DI water.
  4. Lay down a customer-provided bench pad on work area.
  5. Dry the area with a lint free towel.
  6. Change gloves.
  7. Remove the module to be repaired or replaced from the system.
  8. Place the module on the padded work area.
  9. Wipe the exposed surface of the module with 2.5%–3.5% sodium hypochlorite solution. Allow the solution to contact surfaces for at least one minute.
  10. Follow with a deionized water (DI) rinse or wipe. Do not allow the sodium hypochlorite solution to dry.
  11. Dry the module with a lint-free towel.
  12. For modules with metal surfaces, clean with 70% ethanol.
    Change gloves.
  13. Replace new or repaired module back into system.
    Change gloves.
  14. Discard gloves, bench pad, and waste in a biohazard waste container or according to laboratory procedures.
