Cleaning Modules
Scope
This procedure should be performed each time a module is returned.
Tools Required
- None
Materials Required
- 2.5%–3.5% sodium hypochlorite solution
- 70% ethanol
- DI water
- Bench pad
- Lint free towel

- Approximately 10 minutes
Cleaning Procedure

Note—Remember to always change gloves frequently and when moving from Dirty to Clean. |
- Find a clean working surface area.

Put on clean gloves. - Wipe work area with 2.5%–3.5% sodium hypochlorite solution. Allow the solution to contact surfaces for at least one minute.
- Follow with a deionized water (DI) rinse or wipe. Do not allow the sodium hypochlorite solution to dry.
- Dry the area with a lint free towel.
- Lay down a customer-provided bench pad on work area.

Change gloves. - Remove the module to be repaired or replaced from the system.
- Place module on the padded work area.
- Wipe the exposed surface of the module with 2.5%–3.5% sodium hypochlorite solution. Allow the solution to contact surfaces for at least one minute.
- Follow with a deionized water (DI) rinse or wipe. Do not allow the sodium hypochlorite solution to dry.
- Dry the module with a lint free towel.
- For modules with metal surfaces, clean with 70% ethanol.

Change gloves. - Replace new or repaired module back into system.

Change gloves. - Discard gloves, bench pad, and waste in a biohazard waste container or according to laboratory procedures.
