TCR Carousel Belt Removal and Replacement
Parts and Materials Required
- 2.5 mm ball driver or Allen key
- 3 mm ball driver or Allen key
- 4 mm ball driver or Allen key
- Carousel belt
Time Required
Removal Procedure
- Power down the Panther System.
- Ensure that the Sample Pipettor is out of the way, so that it will not be damaged (link to safely moving the pipettor out of the way.
- At the TCR Carousel PCB board, unplug the cable that goes from the TCR Carousel to the COP. (Picture)
- Using the 4 mm ball driver or Allen key, remove the three bolts that secure the TCR Carousel. (Picture)
- Pull the TCR Carousel module out of the system.
- Turn the TCR Carousel module upside down and gently rest it on a flat surface. Be careful not to damage the barcode reader.
- Using the 2.5 mm ball driver or Allen key, loosen (but do not remove) the four bolts and washers that secure the TCR Carousel motor to the belt tensioning bracket.
- Turn the TCR Carousel right-side up and gently rest it on a flat surface.
- Using the 3 mm ball driver or Allen key, loosen (but do not remove) the four bolts that secure the belt tensioning bracket to the TCR base plate.
- Slide the TCR Carousel motor and belt tensioning bracket assembly until the auto-tensioning spring is fully compressed.
- While the auto-tensioning spring is fully compressed, use the 3 mm ball driver or Allen key to tighten the four bolts that secure the belt tensioning bracket to the TCR base plate. This will slacken the TCR Carousel belt.
- Turn the TCR Carousel module upside down and gently rest it on a flat surface. Be careful not to damage the barcode reader.
- Remove the TCR Carousel belt.
Replacement Procedure
- Insert the new TCR Carousel belt. Ensure that the teeth of the belt go around the TCR Carousel motor shaft and the TCR Carousel rotating shaft.
- Turn the TCR Carousel right-side up and gently rest it on a flat surface.
- Using the 3 mm ball driver or Allen key, loosen the four bolts that secure the belt tensioning bracket to the TCR base plate. The slack of the TCR Carousel belt will be removed.
- Using the 3 mm ball driver or Allen key, tighten the four bolts that secure the belt tensioning bracket to the TCR base plate.
- Turn the TCR Carousel module upside down and gently rest it on a flat surface. Be careful not to damage the barcode reader.
- Using the 2.5 mm ball driver or Allen key, tighten the four bolts and washers that secure the TCR Carousel motor to the belt tensioning bracket.
- Turn the TCR Carousel right-side up.
- Using the 4 mm ball driver or Allen key, insert and tighten the three bolts that secure the TCR Carousel module to the system.
- Plug the COP cable into the TCR Carousel PCB.
- Power on the Panther System.
- Start Service Software.
Alignment/Calibration/Prime/Firmware
- Perform a firmware upgrade.
- Perform a pipettor auto teach to the TCR Carousel.
Verification
- Verify TCR scanning.
