Pipettor Y-Axis Flex Cable Removal and Replacement

Parts and Materials Required

  • Proper PPE
  • Hex Key, 2.5 mm
  • PIPETTOR, REAGENT, Y-AXIS FLEX CABLE

    or

  • PIPETTOR, SAMPLE, Y-AXIS FLEX CABLE

Time Required

  • 20 minutes

Removal Procedure

  1. Put on proper PPE.
  2. Power down the Panther System.
  3. Remove the front canopy cover.
  4. ClosedRemove and set aside the 3 cable retaining bands (or clips).

  5. ClosedLoosen the 2 screws securing the Y-Axis Cable suspension bracket from the Y-Axis sledge PCB.

  6. Depress the clip and remove the Y-Axis Flex cable from the Y-Axis Sledge PCB.
  7. Disconnect the Y-axis cable from the X-Axis Sledge PCB.
  8. Set aside old cable to match folding to the new cable.

Replacement Procedure

  1. Prepare the new flex cable by matching the folds from previous cable. Take note of orientation and degree of folds. Ensure the connectors are the same orientation on both ends.
  2. Insert the new flex cable into the X-Axis PCB and route along the Cable Shroud, securing with the clips/bands.
  3. Continue routing the cable to the Y-Axis Sledge PCB. Connect and secure the bracket at the top of the PCB, taking care to keep the washers on the same side as the socket head of the screw.
  4. Align the cable so that it tracks with the cable shroud for the full movement of the pipettor in the Y-axis.
  5. Replace the front canopy cover.
  6. Power on the Panther System.

Verification

  1. Using Service Software, initialize the Pipettors.
  2. Test Pipettor communication by running a repeated LLD test (N >= 10) for the side whose cable was replaced.
