Fusion Pipettor Module General Information
The pipettor system is a dual arm system. The front, or right, arm (“Fusion Pipettor”) incorporates an integrated air based pipettor pump. The rear, or left, arm (“Vial Robot" or "TTA") has an integrated stripping mechanism and does no pipetting.
The dual pipettor module is a Cartesian gantry with belt driven X, Y and gear driven Z axis. All motors have rotary encoders and home sensors. The Fusion Pipettor is designed to accept Tecan 1 ml disposable tips, and access both top and mid-section decks on the Fusion. It has integrated tip sensing, capacitive level sensing, and pressure sensing. It can move to any point on the deck within 2 seconds. Its liquid level detection is accurate to within ± 0.2mm. It requires no system fluids.
The Vial Robot, or Tube Transfer Arm (TTA) is designed to pierce cartridges, transfer tubes from the centrifuge to the Thermocycler, and transfer tubes from the thermocycler to waste. It contains a cap sensor but unlike the Fusion Pipettor, cannot perform liquid and pressure sensing.
