Overview

Purpose

This document provides service engineers the procedure to install a new Panther Fusion System or upgrade an existing Panther System to the Panther Fusion System.

Parts and Materials Required

  • Standard FSE Tool Kit
  • Cordless drill with Phillips PH2 bit (optional)
  • Digital/Bubble Level
  • Square Ruler
  • Socket Wrenches (including 13mm and 19mm deep well sockets)
  • 4x Pipettor Cap Teach Tool, PN 902963
  • Empty MTUs for testing
  • Empty PCR cartridge for testing
  • Full Cap & Vial trays for testing
  • Full Disposable Tip trays for testing

Time Required

  • 16 hours for Fusion Module installation onto previously installed Panther System
  • 24 hours for full Panther Fusion System installation

Nomenclature

Within this procedure, various Panther System and Panther Fusion System configurations are made reference to. These configurations are defined as follows:

Panther – Refers to the Panther System before it has been “fused” to the Fusion. Parts with this designation refer to parts that comprise the original Panther System. Some Panther parts will be removed or replaced with Panther Fusion parts in this procedure.

Fusion– Refers to the Fusion (Fusion Module) before it has been “fused” to the Panther System. Parts with this designation refer to parts that comprise only the Fusion or to be installed on the Fusion in this procedure.

Panther Fusion – Refers to the combined Panther and Fusion System. Together the Panther and Fusion create the Panther Fusion System. Parts with this designation refer to parts to be installed on the Panther System to modify the Panther System for Panther Fusion installation.
